Is a VCCI member able to determine the classification of ITE (Class A and B) arbitrarily? Is there such a case that a member is instructed by VCCI to change the classification at the time of conformity verification report filing?
VCCI members are to determine the class of ITE to file to VCCI based on Article 5 Classification of ITE, RULES FOR VOLUNTARY CONTROL MEASURES. Select Class B in principle for ITE designed and sold for use in home. ITE operable in connection with Class B personal computers can be classified as a Class A equipment if it is not meant to be used in home environment.
We have an equipment filed to VCCI as Class B ITE (the VCCI mark shown in the name plate). This time we developed an option board for this ITE to attach general purpose peripheral equipment meant to be used outside home environment. Result of the measurement of the equipment inclusive of the option board was Class A. Therefore, we are going to file the optional board as Class A ITE. My question is, how can I cope with the situation where users of the original Class B equipment ask for the option board
Please treat the option board as Class A ITE and display so on the board and describe so in instruction manual etc. When shipping the original equipment combined with the option board you are to change the model number of the base equipment or give a system name to it and newly file it to VCCI as Class A equipment.
1.(1) of Article 5 of RULES FOR VOLUNTARY CONTROL MEASURES refers to equipment with no fixed place of use, such as a portable equipment powered by built-in batteries, as an example of Class B ITE. What about battery powered terminals used in closed facilities such as within a museum and art museum? Which should they be classified, Class A or Class B?
If the place of use is limited to public facilities and commercial facilities and not in general households, the occurrence of disturbance to TVs, radios and other wireless communication facilities is considered to be minimal. Therefore, it is not necessary to apply Class B to such equipment.
